McIntosh MT5

The MT5 2022 is a complete turntable package designed to reduce setup uncertainty while preserving the mechanical priorities of a serious analog source. Tonearm geometry, tracking force, anti-skate, cartridge overhang, and arm height are set at the factory. The supplied moving-magnet cartridge and dust cover make it practical to install and use without an immediate round of changes.

Its behavior is stable, quiet, and tonally composed. The magnetically supported platter and controlled belt drive help maintain consistent speed, while the layered chassis works to limit resonance reaching the cartridge. Records retain rhythmic order and image placement, with enough tonal weight to keep voices and instruments connected.

The moving-magnet cartridge is compatible with a conventional 47k-ohm MM phono input, so the MT5 can work with many integrated amplifiers, preamplifiers, and separate phono stages. A solid, level equipment stand is still important, and careful speaker placement will reduce acoustic feedback. The factory adjustment makes final installation more about support and phono matching than tonearm setup.

This model suits the owner who wants a substantial analog source with a more developed mechanical platform than an entry-level package, but who does not want turntable setup to become a separate hobby. It is intended for regular, long-term record listening.
